About the project

The Mkpat Enin to Ikot Ekpe, Ikot Afang, Ikot Umiang, Mbioto and Efa road is a 10.83-kilometre rural road linking Mkpat Enin and Etinan Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State. It runs from Mkpat Enin through Ikot Ekpe, Ikot Afang, Ikot Umiang and Mbioto, and ends at Efa in Etinan. It has a 1.93-kilometre spur to Ikot Enyienge and a 30-metre bridge.

The road was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The contractor was Eighteenth Engineering Company International Limited. Work was flagged off in March 2024, early in the administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno.

The road has an 8-metre-wide carriageway, about 21,660 metres of drains, outfall drains and solar-powered street lights. It gives the communities along the route a direct, all-season link to each other and to both council headquarters.

The road is expected to cut travel time, ease transport and give farmers better access to their farms and to markets. It is meant to open up the area for trade and investment, in line with the ARISE Agenda's focus on rural development.

Governor Pastor Umo Eno commissioned the road on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
