About the project

St. Ignatius Model Primary School is a modern public primary school at Ukana Iba in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It is the one model primary school in Essien Udim.

The school was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno's model primary school programme, which is rebuilding one primary school in each local government area. It was one of two projects given to Essien Udim in the first phase of the programme. The school has been completed. The contractor has not been named publicly.

The school has fully furnished classrooms with desks, a fully equipped computer laboratory, an assembly hall, recreation facilities and staff quarters for teachers.

The school is meant to give children in Ukana Iba and nearby villages a better place to learn, with early access to computers. The staff quarters are expected to help keep teachers in the rural school. It is part of the ARISE Agenda focus on education.

The school was commissioned in February 2025 for Governor Umo Eno, who was represented by his Political Adviser, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh.
