Reconstruction of a 10.412km road that had been in very poor condition for some years. It gives a second link between Uyo and Abak and connects over 30 communities in Abak, Ibiono Ibom and Uyo. It improves access to General Hospital Ukpom Abak, Mercy Hospital Abak and other institutions, and it helped address insecurity in the area. The road has been completed and commissioned.

About the project

The 10.412km Uyo - Ukpom Abak Road has been successfully completed and commissioned under the ARISE Agenda to improve connectivity between rural communities and the Uyo metropolis.

The project was inherited from the previous administration and completed as part of the State Government’s commitment to continuity in governance and infrastructure renewal. Out of the 10.412km stretch, 4.4km was fully reconstructed, while the remaining sections were overlaid to restore the road to a durable and motorable standard.

The road serves as a major transport corridor linking Abak communities to Uyo, easing traffic flow, improving mobility, and enhancing access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.

The project was delivered through the Ministry of Works and Fire Service in collaboration with Amitec Construction Company. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the contractor provided six water boreholes to communities along the project axis.

This project strengthens economic activity within the corridor and reinforces the State’s commitment to completing inherited infrastructure projects across the 31 Local Government Areas.
