Construction of an 8.4km road on the Abak to Etinan corridor. It will ease access to Urua Nduke market and to Comprehensive Secondary School, Ediene. It is also expected to give safer access to Abak town and easier access to places in Etinan. The road is paved and carries traffic. Work was ongoing in 2025.
About the project
The construction of the 8.4-kilometre Ediene Abak - Ikot Ekan Road is an ongoing infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between communities in Abak and Etinan Local Government Areas.
For years, residents along this corridor experienced severe transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season when sections of the road became difficult to access. The poor condition of the road affected the movement of agricultural produce, limited access to healthcare and educational facilities, and slowed economic activities within the axis.
The project is being handled by JP Sigma and is progressing steadily, with proper earthworks and drainage systems underway to ensure durability and long-term serviceability.
Upon completion, the road will enhance rural mobility, boost trade and agricultural distribution, reduce travel time, and improve access to essential services for residents across the benefiting communities.
The project reflects the State Government’s commitment to equitable infrastructure development and rural transformation under the ARISE Agenda.
