About the project

The Abak 10 to Manta Road is an 18.97-kilometre rural road in Abak Local Government Area, with a spur. It runs from Abak 10 through Ibiakpan and Abiakpo Otoro to Manta. It passes more than 30 communities, including many small villages that had no good road before.

The Akwa Ibom State Government is building the road under Governor Umo Eno. State officials inspected it in October 2025 during the Abak project tracking tour, when work was still ongoing. Sections that were once a muddy track now carry a paved surface. Work is ongoing.

The road links to the Uyo to Ikot Ekpene Road and to the Abak to Ukpom to Pepsi Junction Road. Along the way it reaches health centres, schools and markets, including Obo Annang Market.

Once complete, the road is expected to cut travel time, make it easier for farmers to take produce to market, and give villages along the route year-round access to the rest of the state. It is part of the ARISE Agenda drive to open up rural communities.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The road connects major institutions such as health centres, schools and markets. This is meant to make it easier for people in Ibiakpan, Abiakpo Otoro and Manta to reach these services.

For work and income

The road will support commercial activity in the communities along it. It gives access to Obo Annang Market, where farm produce and crafts can be taken for sale.
