About the project

The Model Primary Health Centre at Afaha Obong is a state health facility in Abak Local Government Area. It is in the Afaha Obong clan and serves the surrounding villages.

The Akwa Ibom State Government built the centre under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda, as part of its plan to put a model primary health centre in every Local Government Area. The buildings are finished, and a signboard carries the centre's name.

The centre is meant to close a gap in health care for communities that had little access before. Model centres of this kind are designed to offer basic consultations and treatment, care for mothers and children, immunisation and referral of serious cases.

It is expected to cut the distance families travel for care and to ease pressure on bigger hospitals in Abak town.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The centre improves access to health care for communities that were underserved and helps make sure health workers are available.

For work and income

The centre is meant to ease the cost of health care and reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary hospitals. Care close to home can also save families the cost of travelling to larger hospitals.
