About the project
The Ikwek Afaha Obong to Ukana Mkpa Eyop Road is a 5.88-kilometre rural road in Abak Local Government Area. It links Ikwek and Ukana Mkpa Eyop, two villages in the Afaha Obong clan.
The road is among the Akwa Ibom State Government road works in Abak under Governor Umo Eno. Its current stage of work has not been confirmed.
The road serves farming and trading communities in Afaha Obong. Ikwek is also the site of a new model health centre, so the road is meant to make it easier for people in nearby villages to reach care, as well as markets and schools.
When complete, the road is expected to cut travel time, lower transport costs for farmers and traders, and open up the communities it links. This fits the ARISE Agenda aim of connecting rural communities to markets and services.
