For families and communities
The homes took the families out of extreme need and restored their dignity. They also reduced the risk of a crisis caused by homelessness.
I'm glad to share that work on ARISE Compassionate Homes (14) in Abak LGA is under way. Fourteen homes for vulnerable households.

Fourteen homes for vulnerable households. 11 are completed and 3 are ongoing, at Manta Abak, Uruk Usoh and Ibong Otoro. The homes took families out of extreme need and reduced the risk of homelessness.

The ARISE Compassionate Homes in Abak are 14 homes built for vulnerable households across the Local Government Area. They are spread over Ikot Akwa Ebom (Ediene), Midim Ikot Afang, Abak Itenge, Itung Abak, Ibiakpan I, Afaha Essang, Onuk Ukpom, Uruk Uso, Ikot Ndue Afaha Obong, Abiakpo, Oku Abak, Manta Abak, Uruk Usoh and Ibong Otoro.
The homes are part of an Akwa Ibom State Government housing scheme under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda. Owners are chosen at ward level, from those living in the worst conditions in their communities. Of the 14 homes, 11 are completed and 3 are still being built, at Manta Abak, Uruk Usoh and Ibong Otoro.
Each home is a two-bedroom house given free of charge. It comes furnished, with solar lighting, a solar-powered borehole and an outside kitchen. Each owner also receives a business grant of N500,000. The home at Ikot Akwa Ebom was handed over in June 2024, and the one at Oku Abak in July 2025.
The scheme is meant to give poor families safe and decent shelter, with light and clean water on site, and a way to earn a living.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

A secure home removes the burden of finding or repairing shelter, which lets a household put what it has toward food and other needs.
