For families and communities
Families get a safe, well-lit park with fountains, walkways, toilets and a police post, while the open field stays free for football and exercise.

Unity Park on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, is being turned into a tourism and leisure park with Ibom Kitchen, fountains, a pond, walkways, toilets, gates and solar street lights, while keeping open space for sport.

Unity Park is a large public park on Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo, Uyo Local Government Area. Until recently it was mostly an open field used for football and as an afternoon resting place for tricycle riders. The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno is now turning it into a place for tourism, entertainment and family leisure.
The newest addition is Ibom Kitchen, a food and cooking facility, built alongside other leisure and support facilities. Work was under way in October 2026, with the steel roof frames of the main buildings up and the roofing, grounds, pond and entrance road still in progress.
The work includes an artificial pond that collects rain water running off the ground, sit-outs, landscaped walkways with flowers and trees, a children's fountain and a large fountain with lighting behind it. There is also a police post, six new entrance gates, a dual carriageway main entrance road, seven toilets placed around the park and solar street lights. The Ibibio Union Museum is being renovated, and a hotel mock-up room is part of the work.
A large part of the green space is being kept for football, aerobics and other outdoor exercise, so the park still serves the people who use it every day. These new features add to the earlier fencing of the park and the 20,000-capacity amphitheatre built there for the Christmas Village and other big events.
The upgrade is meant to give residents and visitors an attractive place to relax outdoors, bring more visitors to Uyo and grow tourism and the leisure economy under the ARISE Agenda.
