About the project

The Ibom International Hotel, also called the Ibom Hotel, is a 14-storey hotel in the Ibom Tropicana complex in Uyo. The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno is completing it after the building stood unfinished for years.

The hotel tower was started under an earlier administration, but work stopped in 2014. Governor Eno inspected it in June 2024 and flagged off the new works on 24 May 2025, together with the International Convention Centre, with a 12-month target for the hotel.

The hotel is planned to have about 200 rooms of different classes, a reception, cafe, lounge, swimming pool, gym, kitchen, laundry and a banquet hall. Solar panels on the building are designed to produce about 250 kilowatts of power. In July 2026 fittings were being installed across several sections.

When open, the hotel is meant to give conference visitors a place to stay next to the convention centre and shopping city, create jobs and grow tourism in the state, in line with the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

A large hotel can offer jobs to residents in housekeeping, catering, security and management once it opens.

For work and income

More rooms allow the capital to host larger events and more visitors. Hotels also buy food and services from local suppliers.
