QIC Government Model Primary School is a public primary school in Oku, one of the historic clans of Uyo. It was set up about 112 years ago by the Qua Iboe Church, and the Akwa Ibom State Government has now rebuilt it for the first time in its history under Governor Pastor Umo Eno's model schools programme.
The rebuilt school has 19 classrooms, an early childhood section, classrooms fitted with televisions, an assembly hall, a library, an ICT laboratory, offices for the head teacher and staff, a sick bay, sports facilities and a security post. It also has a three-bedroom home for the head teacher and two-bedroom quarters for teachers.
The school was commissioned on 12 June 2026. Governor Eno was represented by his Political Adviser, Dr Godwin Ntukudeh. The Commissioner for Education, the SUBEB Chairman and the Uyo Local Government Chairman also attended, and pupils received free school sandals, exercise books and school bags.
The Uyo Council Chairman described the school as a life-changing project for the community. It is meant to give pupils in Oku a modern place to learn, raise enrolment and improve results, in line with the education pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
