The Model Government Primary School at Idung Offiong in Eket Local Government Area is the first project of Governor Pastor Umo Eno's One-Project-Per-Local-Government-Area initiative. The Governor launched the initiative with this school on 8 November 2023, with the plan to repeat it across all 31 LGAs based on what each community asked for.
The project was funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The Commissioner for Special Duties, Bassey Okon, said at the launch that the school was to be completed within six months so that the next round of projects could begin. The school is now complete.
The school has classrooms, a clinic, an assembly hall, toilets and water facilities. It also has solar power, a security gate, a perimeter fence, staff quarters and modern learning facilities. Pupils received school uniforms, books and shoes.
The school is expected to give children in Idung Offiong and nearby communities a safe, well-equipped place to learn. It reflects the education and rural development goals of the ARISE Agenda.
