About the project

The Idoro/Pepsi Junction to Ukpom Abak Road is a 10.4-kilometre road that runs from Idoro in Uyo to Ukpom in Abak Local Government Area. Amitec Construction Company built it.

The road was started under the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel. Governor Pastor Umo Eno's administration inherited it and paid for about 80 per cent of the cost to finish it.

Before the work, the road was often impassable. It had cut off access to major health centres along the corridor, including Ukpom Abak General Hospital, making it hard for pregnant women and patients to get care. The new road links rural communities in Uyo and Abak with the capital, and six boreholes were promised for communities along the route.

Governor Eno inaugurated the road on 16 July 2025. It is expected to cut travel time, improve access to hospitals and markets, and boost farming and trade, in line with the ARISE Agenda's aim of linking rural areas to urban centres.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The road connects communities in Uyo and Abak. It also gives patients a better route to the general hospital at Ukpom Abak.

For work and income

A direct road between the two areas lets goods and farm produce move between Abak and the markets of the capital. It can also relieve pressure on other routes into Uyo.
