These are water boreholes at Udung Etta and Abiakelibi villages in Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area. Each site has an elevated steel stand carrying water storage tanks, and a tiled tap stand where people fetch water.
The boreholes were provided by Rt. Hon. Precious Selong, the member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. They were among four new boreholes she delivered in her first 100 days in office in 2023. The other two are at Ikpe Oro and Mbokpu Eyoakan. Each borehole came with a generating set to power the water supply. The projects are completed.
The boreholes give households in both villages a source of water close to home, so families spend less time and money looking for water.
They are expected to improve hygiene and reduce water-related illness in the communities.

Because the pumps run on the sun, the villages do not have to buy fuel to keep water flowing. Time saved on fetching water can go to farming, fishing and trade.
