About the project

The Chairman's Lodge is a duplex being built at the local government headquarters in Urue Offong. It will be the official residence of the Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area.

The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno approved the project. The Governor flagged it off at the project site in January 2026, represented by Hon. Nsidibe Inyang Akata, the member representing Eket State Constituency. Work is ongoing.

The lodge is meant to make sure the council chairman lives within the area he leads. This is expected to make supervision of council work easier, keep the chairman close to the people, and improve security and service delivery at the grassroots.

The project is part of the grassroots governance work under the ARISE Agenda. It has not yet been completed or commissioned.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

A chairman who lives in the area is closer to residents and their daily concerns. The lodge is meant to make that possible.

For work and income

Building the lodge gives work to local builders and suppliers. A chairman resident in the area also keeps more council activity and spending within it.
