About the project

The Chairman's Lodge in Abak is an official residence for the Executive Chairman of Abak Local Government Council. It stands within the Abak Council Secretariat.

The lodge is part of a state programme under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda to build a lodge for the council chairman in each local government area. The programme was flagged off across the state on 14 January 2026.

In Abak, the flag-off and foundation laying took place on Wednesday 14 January 2026. The Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr Ekerete Ekanem, performed it on behalf of the Governor. The council chairman at the time was Hon. Ime Charles.

The plan is a duplex with a meeting hall, a security post and boys' quarters. The main building has been roofed and work is continuing.

The lodge is expected to let the council chairman live in the council area and be closer to the people.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The lodge will make council leaders more accountable and more involved in local activities. The idea is that a chairman who lives in the area is easier for residents to reach.

For work and income

Its purpose is local governance, not trade or jobs.
