Solar-powered water facility, Issiet Ekim

About the project

This is a solar-powered water supply at Issiet Ekim in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It has an elevated tank and is completed.

The facility uses solar power to pump water, so it does not depend on the public grid or on fuel for a generator. This keeps running costs low and helps the supply keep going. No contractor or commissioning date has been published.

It is meant to save residents long trips to fetch water and to reduce water-borne illness.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Better access to water leads to better hygiene, healthier living conditions and more convenience for households.

For work and income

Solar power means the system does not need fuel or grid power to pump water. Households can spend less time and money on getting water and more on work and trade.
