ARISE Youth Friendly Centre

About the project

The ARISE Youth Friendly Centre in Uruan Local Government Area is a hub for young people, also called the Uruan Youth Development Centre. It was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno and is run through the Ministry of Youth Development.

Construction was flagged off on 21 October 2025, together with hubs in 10 other LGAs, by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, for the Governor. The hubs are designed with a training centre, a startup and incubation space, co-working spaces, a creative hub, an ICT hub, an e-library and a recreation lounge. The centre also serves as a secretariat for registered youth groups.

The centre was commissioned in September 2026 as part of the state's 39th anniversary. The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission, Princess Usoro Akpabio, performed the ceremony for the Governor and said the centre should be a productive hub where young people develop ideas, businesses and creative skills.

Uruan is one of seven centres chosen to host the Ministry's skills training programme, with applications opened in late September 2026. The centre is expected to help young people in Uruan gain practical skills, start businesses and find work.
