About the project

The Chairman's Lodge is the official residence being built for the Executive Chairman of Udung Uko Local Government Area. It is located within the council secretariat at Eyofin.

The project is funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. Ground breaking took place on 14 January 2026, performed on behalf of the Governor by Rt. Hon. Asuquo Nana Udoh. A four-month completion timeline was set. By 18 February 2026, the foundation was being dug and sand, gravel, blocks and cement were on site. The project is ongoing.

The plan includes a duplex as the main building, a meeting hall, a power house, boys' quarters and a gatehouse, all inside a perimeter fence.

The lodge rests on Section 78 of the Akwa Ibom State Local Government Administration Law, which requires council chairmen to live at their council headquarters. It is meant to keep the chairman close to the people, able to attend to security and administrative needs at any hour. The building work is also expected to give jobs to local youths.
