About the project

The Aviation Village is a housing estate for aviation workers being built at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It sits on 15.072 hectares inside the airport grounds and is made up of 117 bungalows: 62 two-bedroom and 55 three-bedroom units.

The project is paid for by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. The Governor announced the plan in August 2024 and later performed the groundbreaking at the airport. Work is ongoing, and the estate now has an entrance gate and rows of houses. It is listed among the 10 critical aviation projects under way at the airport.

The homes are for state and federal staff of 12 agencies at the airport, including the Ibom Airport Development Company, the MRO, NAHCO, NCAA, FAAN, NEMA, Customs, NDLEA and Immigration. The estate will be built in two phases. The first phase is the housing. The second phase will add a primary school, a shopping mall and recreation facilities.

The estate is meant to let aviation workers live close to their jobs as the airport moves to 24-hour operations. It supports the ARISE Agenda plan to make Akwa Ibom a major aviation hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
