About the project
The Model Primary Health Centre at Ikot Osute is a primary healthcare facility in Ward 11 of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It is one of the model primary health centres the state government is building across the 31 local government areas.
The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno delivered the project. The contractor has not been published. The centre was commissioned on Sunday, 13 September 2026, as one of the 39 projects marking the 39th anniversary of the state. The Governor was represented by Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, who represents Ukanafun and Oruk Anam in the House of Representatives. The project is completed.
The centre is meant to provide maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, antenatal care and treatment of common illnesses. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, said the programme is aimed at bringing care closer to rural communities and easing pressure on secondary and tertiary facilities.
The centre is expected to help residents of Ikot Osute and nearby communities get basic care without travelling far. It fits the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
