The centre was commissioned and offers training in ICT, e-commerce, fashion, design, catering and other enterprise skills. Oron is the first LGA to benefit from this initiative, and many young people are in training.

The Oron Youth Development Centre, also called the ARISE Youth Skill Centre, is a skills and enterprise centre for young people in Oron Local Government Area. It sits on land given by the Oron council at its headquarters. It is the first of the youth development centres the state plans to build in all 31 local government areas.
The centre was delivered by the Akwa Ibom State Government through the Ministry of Youth Development under Governor Umo Eno. The Governor asked council chairmen to give land for the centres, and Oron finished its centre ahead of the others. Governor Eno commissioned it on Tuesday 26 May 2026, during a tour that also opened the new Oron primary health centre base, the council administrative block and the Ukpong and Effiong Esang streets.
The centre has a multipurpose training hall, a digital library and ICT hub, a creative and media centre, a youth enterprise kiosk, and spaces for networking and recreation. It runs on solar power. Training covers ICT, fashion and design, catering and other enterprise skills.
When all the centres are running, they are expected to train about 31,000 young people a year across the state. The centre is meant to bring skills training closer to young people at the grassroots, help them start small businesses or find jobs, and reduce the drift of youths to the cities. It is part of the youth empowerment pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
