About the project

The Model Secondary School in Nsit Ubium is a new public secondary school being built at Ikot Akpan Abia Ubium in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It is the pilot for model secondary schools the state plans to build in all three senatorial districts.

The Akwa Ibom State Government is funding the project. The site has been cleared and fenced with a perimeter wall, and work is ongoing. Governor Pastor Umo Eno inspected the work in October 2025.

The school is planned to have a technical laboratory, an ICT centre, male and female hostel blocks, a library, a multipurpose hall, sports facilities, staff quarters and farmland for agricultural learning.

The school is expected to give children in Nsit Ubium and beyond a modern place to learn, with boarding and practical training on site. The project is also expected to boost the host community's economy and create jobs. It is part of the education plank of the ARISE Agenda.
