About the project

The Youth Friendly Centre in Nsit Ibom is a youth skills centre being built by the Akwa Ibom State Government in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The work is ongoing. The centre is part of a state plan to put a youth centre in each of the 31 local government areas. Each centre is designed to train about 1,000 young people a year, in cycles of about 100.

The Nsit Ibom centre is designed with a vocational section for ICT, fashion and design, carpentry, welding, catering, makeup and agro-processing. It will also have digital computer labs with internet access, to train young people in graphics, coding, content creation and remote work.

When finished, the centre is expected to give young people practical skills they can use to earn a living, start businesses and find work online. It supports the ARISE Agenda's focus on youth empowerment and self-reliance.
