Water of Life project, Ekpene Ikpan

About the project

The Water of Life project at Ekpene Ikpan is a clean water facility in Asang Ward 5 of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. It supplies safe drinking water to the Ekpene Ikpan community.

The project was donated by the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), the social programme founded by the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, and now led by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki. It was one of the first three Water of Life projects in the state.

The site has a tall steel tower carrying eight water storage tanks, which feed water to the community.

The facility is meant to improve environmental health, cut the long walks to fetch water and lower the risk of water-borne illness. It supports the ARISE Agenda's aim of bringing basic services to rural communities.

The project was inaugurated on Friday, 21 February 2025 by Lady Helen Eno Obareki, represented by Hon. Itorobong Etim, member representing Uruan State Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
