About the project

This is a solar-powered water facility at Ukpum Minya (also spelt Ukpom Minya) in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Ukpum Minya is one of the clans of Mkpat Enin.

The facility was provided by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno, through the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.

In October 2026 the Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation, Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, said the Ukpum Minya project was among water schemes in more than 12 communities that had been completed and handed over. Each has solar-powered pumping and a water treatment plant.

The facility is expected to give households in the area clean water close to home without depending on grid power or fuel, and to reduce water-related illness.
