About the project
The Ibom Industrial Park is at Mbak Itam in Itu Local Government Area, close to Uyo. The land was set aside for factories, but much of it stayed undeveloped for more than a decade.
In August 2023, Governor Pastor Umo Eno ordered that all undeveloped plots in the park be taken back so the land could go to serious investors. The state plans to divide the park into about 150 plots of 4,000 to 5,000 square metres each, with a perimeter fence, a police station, a power station, water supply and good roads.
The state has named the park as the home for new factories, including fashion and shoe factories meant to make school uniforms and shoes for pupils. In August 2023 the Governor also ordered a vehicle parts factory to move from Ikot Ekpene Road in Uyo into the park.
Internal roads are now being built to serve the park. When fully developed, the park is expected to bring industries and jobs to Itu and the state, in line with the ARISE Agenda.
