About the project
The project is the construction of the official residence of the Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, also called the Chairman's Lodge. It is being built at Uyo Itam in Itu Local Government Area.
Ground was broken on Wednesday 14 January 2026. The plan includes a four-bedroom duplex, a meeting hall, boys' quarters, a generator house and a security house, all powered by solar. Work is ongoing.
The residence is part of a statewide plan under Governor Pastor Umo Eno to build official residences for council chairmen in all 31 Local Government Areas. The first was commissioned in Eket in May 2025, after which work was to begin in the other 30 councils.
The lodge is meant to give the council chairman a fixed official home and a place to receive residents and visitors, so the office does not depend on private housing.
