About the project

This is the construction of a Youth Friendly Centre in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Akwa Ibom State Government plans one Youth Friendly Centre in each of the 31 local government areas. The centres are built as places where young people can learn skills, get mentoring and start businesses. Centres of this kind include training rooms, an ICT hub, an e-library, co-working space and support for start-ups.

When complete, the centre is meant to give young people in Ika a place close to home to gain skills such as ICT, fashion and catering, start their own businesses and find work. This is expected to reduce the pull of young people away from rural areas. It is part of the youth and jobs goals of the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The centre is meant to give young people a place to learn and share ideas. In an LGA that once faced youth unrest, a place for training and useful activity can support the peace.
