About the project
This is a model primary school being built at Urua Inyang, the headquarters of Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
It is part of a state government plan to build a model school in each of the 31 local government areas. Governor Umo Eno has promised a model primary school and a primary health centre in every local government area, so that each part of the state shares in development. Schools under this plan are meant to have modern classrooms, libraries, teachers' quarters and sports facilities.
The school is still under construction. When complete, it is expected to give children in Ika a better place to learn, attract and keep good teachers, and raise the standard of public primary education in the area. It fits the education goals of the ARISE Agenda.
