About the project

The Ikot Udom to Ikot Otong to Mkpohoeto Road is a set of internal roads at Ikot Udom in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It links Ikot Udom and Ikot Otong to Mkpohoeto Market, the biggest market in Ika.

The roads were built by Hensek Integrated Services Limited for the Akwa Ibom State Government. They were commissioned on 24 September 2025 by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, with Governor Umo Eno, on the same day as the Ikot Esu to Otomo to Azumini Road.

By linking villages to Mkpohoeto Market, the road is meant to make it easier and cheaper for traders and farmers to bring goods to market and for buyers to reach them. It is also expected to ease daily movement within Ikot Udom and nearby communities. It fits the ARISE Agenda's focus on rural roads and trade.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The road gives two villages a short, direct way to their main market. Market days bring people together, and an easier trip helps women, older people and children who go there on foot or by motorcycle.

For work and income

Mkpohoeto is one of the major markets in Ika. A good link to it helps farmers bring in produce and helps traders carry goods home.
