Water for Life project at Ikot Eba (GIFA)

About the project

This is a Water-of-Life project at Ikot Eba village, in Etinan Urban 2 ward of Etinan Local Government Area. It is a solar-powered water facility with an elevated tank, built by the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).

GIFA is the charity linked to the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State. The Water-of-Life project carries forward the vision of the late Pastor Patience Umo Eno, wife of the governor, to give families in rural communities clean and safe water.

The facility was inaugurated on 18 February 2026 by Lady Helen Eno Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and Chairperson of the GIFA Board of Trustees. Projects in Etim Ekpo, Urue Offong Oruko and Okobo were inaugurated in the same round.

The facility is meant to give the community a reliable supply of clean water close to home. It is expected to protect families from water-borne diseases and save the time spent fetching water from far away.
