About the project

The Model Primary Health Centre at Utu Ikot Nkor is a new health centre in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. It is built and equipped to give primary health care to people in Etim Ekpo and in nearby Oruk Anam, Ukanafun and Abak Local Government Areas.

The centre was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno, as one of the model primary health centres the state has been building across its LGAs. It is completed and in use. Local residents have been employed at the centre for security and upkeep of the grounds.

The centre brings basic health services closer to rural families. It can handle routine treatment, care for mothers and children, immunisation and referrals to larger hospitals, and cut the distance people travel for care.

The centre was commissioned on 25 March 2025. The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, performed the inauguration, and the Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem John.
