For families and communities
The homes took away the burden of rent and of paying for repairs. Families have been able to put that money toward food, health and their children's education.
I'm proud to share that work on ARISE Compassionate Homes in Eket LGA is finished. Homes built for people in need at 13 sites, each one completed.

Homes built for people in need at 13 sites, each one completed.

The ARISE Compassionate Homes in Eket are free houses built by the Akwa Ibom State Government for widows, vulnerable families and people in need. Homes have been completed at 13 sites across Eket Local Government Area.
The sites are Afia Nsit, Osiok Eket, Nduo Eduo, Ede Urua, Odoro Atabong, Okon Eket, Ikot Uso Ekong, 75 RCC Road, Usung Idim Afaha Atai, Akpasiobok Street, Ikot Ekpo Okon, Obot Enen and Odio.
Under the statewide programme, each home is a two-bedroom house given free of charge. It comes with solar lighting, a solar-powered borehole and an outside kitchen. Each beneficiary also receives a business grant of N500,000 to start or grow a small trade. Beneficiaries are chosen at ward level from those living in the worst conditions in their communities.
The programme is a flagship of the social welfare side of Governor Pastor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda. It is meant to give safe shelter and dignity to people who could not build for themselves.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
The homes took away the burden of rent and of paying for repairs. Families have been able to put that money toward food, health and their children's education.
Building the homes created jobs for local masons, electricians, carpenters, suppliers and other workers, and put money into the local economy. Each house is a family asset that can be passed down.
