About the project

This project is the maintenance of 83 roads across Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. Governor Pastor Umo Eno approved the work in January 2026 after a briefing from the Ministry of Works and Fire Service.

Amitec Construction and Development Limited was mobilised to fix potholes and failed sections, with a directive to finish the worst portions before the end of the dry season. The approval also covered the rehabilitation of Aka Itiam Road.

The roads on the list include Oron Road, Ikot Ekpene Road, Abak Road, Clement Isong Street, part of Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Port Harcourt Street, the Plaza bypass, the Itam junction roundabout, part of Obio Imo Street, roads in Ewet Housing Estate, Johnson Street and Ekpenyong Street, among others.

Maintenance keeps existing roads in good use instead of letting them fail. The work is meant to make daily travel in the capital smoother and safer, cut damage to vehicles and protect the state's earlier road investments, in line with the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Potholes cause accidents and slow traffic. Fixing them makes daily travel safer and smoother for everyone who uses the city's roads.

For work and income

Smooth roads reduce damage to vehicles and save fuel and time. Regular repair also costs less than rebuilding a road after it has failed.
