About the project

This project is the dualisation of the 4-kilometre Uyo Village Road in Uyo, the route that links the Calabar to Itu Highway with the city. Dualisation means widening the road into two carriageways.

The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno is delivering the work. It includes two bridges of about 45 metres each, new drains, the relocation of a dumpsite on the corridor, and flood and erosion control.

By July 2025 the project was about 70 per cent complete. Site clearing was done, drains were about 80 per cent complete and earthworks were over half done, with base course laid on some sections.

The road carries heavy trucks bringing stones and other materials from Cross River State. When complete it is expected to ease traffic into the capital, cut travel time, reduce flooding and support trade, in line with the ARISE Agenda.
