About the project

This project expanded the 21.5-kilometre stretch of Oron Road from the Ring Road III roundabout in Uyo to the gate of Victor Attah International Airport. The road, once known as Airport Road, has been renamed Udom Emmanuel Boulevard.

The expansion was started under former Governor Udom Emmanuel and completed under Governor Pastor Umo Eno. Governor Eno inaugurated it in May 2024, during the first anniversary of his administration, and announced the new name in honour of his predecessor.

The corridor is the main gateway between the state capital and the airport. It runs beyond Uyo into other Local Government Areas on the airport axis, serving commuters, traders and travellers.

At the inauguration, the Governor said a city is judged by what a first-time visitor sees on arrival. The wider road is meant to ease traffic, cut travel time to and from the airport and give visitors a good first view of the state, in line with the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

A wider road on this route can ease the daily trip for people who live and work along Oron Road, and for those travelling between the capital and the airport.

For work and income

The corridor ties the capital to the airport axis, which matters for business visitors, hotels and trade. Shops and offices along the road gain from easier access.
