For families and communities
Public buses give people who do not own cars a way to travel between the capital and their home areas. CNG is also a cleaner public transport option.
I'm glad to share that work on Ibom CNG Mass Transit Terminal in Uyo LGA is under way. A compressed natural gas mass transit terminal, with a CNG station and buses.

A compressed natural gas mass transit terminal, with a CNG station and buses. It is expected to improve movement between Uyo and other LGAs and give a cleaner public transport option.

The Ibom Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mass Transit Terminal is a bus terminal under construction on Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard, between the Obio Offot and Ikot Ekpe communities in Uyo Local Government Area. JMK Construction Ltd is the contractor.
Governor Pastor Umo Eno flagged off the project on 24 January 2026. The terminal will be the base for the state's 50 CNG buses, which are meant to link the capital with all 31 Local Government Areas. The first 20 buses were received in mid 2026.
The terminal is designed to include a CNG filling station, a repair and maintenance workshop, a training school for gas and bus technicians, loading bays, passenger waiting areas, a restaurant, an automated car wash, a police station and a security surveillance system.
The project is expected to create about 500 direct jobs for drivers, ticketing staff and technicians. By using gas instead of petrol or diesel, it is meant to cut transport fares, reduce pollution and modernise public transport in the state, in line with the ARISE Agenda. Work was targeted for completion in mid 2026 and is ongoing.

Mass transit can lower the cost of travel for workers, students and traders. The terminal is also expected to create jobs for drivers, mechanics and station staff.
