The seaport is a maritime and logistics project at technical and investment stage. A marine-support logistics base of 40 square kilometres is proposed within the state's Free Trade Zone.
No photograph of this project is on record yet. Photographs from the same LGA are on the Mbo page.
The Ibom Deep Seaport is a planned deep sea port on the Ibaka maritime axis of Mbo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It is a blue economy, maritime and logistics project, planned together with the Ibom Industrial City. Next to it, a Marine Logistics Base of about 40 square kilometres is proposed at Ibaka, inside the state's Free Trade Zone.
The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno is driving the project. The feasibility report, drawn up by a technical committee with engineering work by Worley Parsons, was presented at Government House, Uyo, in April 2026. Other work done so far includes geophysical and geotechnical studies, financial and market studies, investor documents, a dedicated project office and the choice of preferred bidders through international bidding. The state signed a memorandum of understanding with the Interaf Group Consortium on the port and the industrial city. In May 2026, the Federal Government listed the Ibom Deep Seaport among five deep seaport projects that had completed the required approvals and compliance processes. On 5 June 2026, Governor Eno led a technical session with Africa Global Logistics (AGL) in Paris.
Neither the port nor the logistics base has been built. Still to come are front-end engineering design, land acquisition, the container terminal and the breakwater. Access roads into the area, including the Unyenge road, are under construction.
The port is expected to create jobs, attract investment and make Akwa Ibom a trade and logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea.

Mbo is seen as a place for maritime transport, port infrastructure and export facilities. A seaport and logistics base are meant to handle cargo and support marine businesses.
