About the project

Ibom Towers is an 18-storey residential building being built by the Akwa Ibom State Government on Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. It stands on about 2,191 square metres of land that the state bought in the 1990s.

The project is paid for by the state government under Governor Umo Eno and is managed by the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP). The main contractor is WL Construction Limited. The groundbreaking was performed on 30 October 2024 by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Governor Eno and the former Akwa Ibom governors Obong Victor Attah and Udom Emmanuel in attendance. The work was planned to take 24 months. Work is ongoing on the foundation and columns.

The tower will hold one, two and three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom duplex penthouses. It is designed with multi-level car parking, lifts, a reception hall, standby power, security fencing, landscaped gardens and a water feature.

The apartments are aimed at high-income earners and businesses in Lagos. The building is expected to earn steady income for Akwa Ibom and create jobs in both states. It is part of the ARISE Agenda's plan to raise the state's internally generated revenue without new taxes.
