About the project
The Oruk Anam Youth Friendly Centre is a planned youth development facility for Oruk Anam Local Government Area. It is one of the youth friendly centres the Akwa Ibom State Government plans to build at the headquarters of every local government area. For Oruk Anam, the council headquarters is at Ikot Ibritam.
Governor Umo Eno flagged off construction of youth friendly centres across the local government areas in October 2025. Oruk Anam was not among the seven centres that opened for youth skills programmes in September 2026. A site, contractor and start date for the Oruk Anam centre have not been announced, so it remains at the planning stage.
The centres are meant to give young people, especially those in rural communities, a place to meet and build their skills, creativity and business ideas. They are designed for skills training, mentorship and support for new businesses.
Once built, the centre is expected to help young people in Oruk Anam learn practical skills, find work or start their own businesses. This is in line with the wealth creation, employment and youth development goals of the ARISE Agenda.
