This project covers the construction of flood control facilities within the premises of the Onna Local Government Secretariat at Abat, the headquarters of Onna Local Government Area.
The work is handled by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno as a direct labour and intervention project, alongside the Stadium Road in Abat and the Mkpaeto-Ikot Ndodot Road. Its current status is yet to be confirmed.
The facilities are meant to drain storm water from the secretariat grounds, stop flooding and protect council buildings and the roads around them. This should make the secretariat easier to reach for staff and for residents who come for council services, especially in the rainy season.
