About the project

The Ibom Solutions Hub is a planned offshore logistics shore base and industrial park at Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It is to sit on about 40 square kilometres of land inside the state's Free Trade Zone. The site covers Ibaka, Usuk Effiat, Ubotuong Enwang and Unyenghe.

The project is a partnership between Ibom Solutions Hub Limited, which holds 50 percent, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), which holds 30 percent, and the Akwa Ibom State Government, which holds 20 percent. Governor Pastor Umo Eno has pledged to speed up the start of the project. Compensation payments to landowners at the site have begun.

The hub is designed as a deep-water logistics base that will offer offshore construction and logistics support to the eastern flank of Nigeria and to West and Central Africa, as an alternative to existing bases.

It is expected to bring investment, jobs and new businesses to Mbo and the coastal communities around Ibaka, in line with the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Paying landowners before work goes ahead recognises the rights of the families who hold the land.

For work and income

Compensation puts money in the hands of local landowners. Any wider gain depends on what is built at the site.
