For families and communities
Centres like this give young residents a place to learn skills and take part in productive activities. The long-term effect will depend on the programmes run there.

About the project
The Youth Development Centre in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area is a youth hub with several buildings on a large site. It is one of the ARISE Youth Friendly Hubs the Akwa Ibom State Government is building in every local government area under Governor Umo Eno.
Etim Ekpo is one of 11 LGAs where construction of the hubs was flagged off on 21 October 2025. In Etim Ekpo, the Governor was represented by the Special Adviser on Co-operative and Rural Development, Mrs. Alice Ekpenyong. The centre was among the newly commissioned youth centres reported in September 2026.
The hubs are designed with a training centre, a startup and incubation space, co-working spaces, an ICT hub, an e-library and a recreation area. Etim Ekpo is one of seven centres chosen to host the Ministry of Youth Development's three-month skills training programme, with applications opened in late September 2026.
The centre is meant to give young people in Etim Ekpo practical skills, help them start businesses and reduce unemployment, in line with the ARISE Agenda.
