The Model Primary School at Utu Nsekhe and Utu Ikot Eboro is a new school in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. It was built from the ground up to the state's specification for model primary schools, as part of the Governor Pastor Umo Eno administration's ARISE Agenda.
The school has been completed and was commissioned on 24 September 2026. Its buildings are laid out around two courtyards, with a main entrance block at the front. The grounds hold classroom blocks, a nursery classroom with painted walls and child-sized desks, a library with study desks and shelves, a computer room with desktop computers, and a large assembly hall. There is solar power on the roof, a perimeter wall, a playground with swings, and a row of bungalows on the site.
The school is part of the Governor's programme of model primary schools across the local government areas of the state. Model schools in this programme are designed with an ICT laboratory, a library, a sick bay, a football field and playground, staff quarters, a water supply and solar power. Pupils receive free uniforms and exercise books.
It gives children in Utu Nsekhe, Utu Ikot Eboro and nearby villages modern classrooms close to home. The programme grew out of the Governor's 2023 declaration of a state of emergency on primary education. Better schools are expected to draw more children into school, help them learn and keep good teachers in rural areas.
