About the project

The Eket Local Government Chairman's official residence is on Liverpool Road, Eket. It serves as both a guest house and an executive residence.

It was the first of its kind. The Akwa Ibom State Government is repeating the same model in all 31 Local Government Areas, so that each council chairman has an official home. By April 2026, the state reported 31 local government chairmen's residences among the housing units delivered under Governor Pastor Umo Eno.

The building provides living space for the Chairman and rooms and meeting space for visiting officials and stakeholders. It is meant to give the council a proper base for hosting guests and doing official business.

The project is part of the ARISE Agenda drive to strengthen local government and bring development to the grassroots.

For families and communities

The residence keeps the Chairman among his people and ties governance to the grassroots. It also helps the Chairman coordinate a faster response to emergencies and hold town hall meetings.

For work and income

Building and furnishing the residence gave work to Eket artisans, traders, suppliers and labourers. Meetings and trainings now take place in Eket and not Uyo, which keeps spending in the area and cuts the cost of hosting functions in hotels.
