About the project

The Chairman's Official Residence in Ini Local Government Area is being built at Odoro Ikpe, the council headquarters. The project includes the official residence of the Executive Chairman, a 100-capacity meeting hall, staff quarters and other support facilities.

It is a State Government project. Construction was flagged off on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, by the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Captain Iniobong Ekong, on behalf of Governor Umo Eno. The project documents were handed to the Executive Chairman of Ini LGA, Hon. Inibehe Umah, and then to the project resource person. In September 2026 the Ini council listed the Chairman's Lodge among state projects being executed in the LGA. No completion has been reported yet.

The residence is meant to let the council chairman live and work inside the LGA, close to the people he serves. The meeting hall gives the council a place for meetings with communities and stakeholders.

The work is expected to engage both skilled and unskilled local labour and add to the local economy. At the flag-off, the project team said it expected to finish within four months. The project forms part of the ARISE Agenda's push to take governance to the grassroots.
