About the project

This project is the reconstruction of the 3.3-kilometre Idua Road in Eket Local Government Area. It connects different parts of Eket town and nearby communities.

The project was started under the previous administration, when Limbech Development Nigeria Limited was the contractor. The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno carried it through to completion.

For years, heavy water flow kept washing out the road and flooding the area. The rebuilt road has a new drainage system to deal with this, and the Governor directed that the outfall drains be extended to reach a river.

Governor Umo Eno commissioned the road in May 2024, together with the emergency works at the collapsed Afia Nsit Road. At the event he approved a bridge to link Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium to Eket through the south end of Idua Road, and an extension at the north end to join Udom Emmanuel Boulevard. The Eket Transition Committee Chairman, Akaninyene Tommey, the paramount ruler of Eket and the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, attended. The road fits the ARISE Agenda aim of finishing inherited projects that matter to the people.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Rebuilding an existing road is meant to give the people who already depend on it a safer and smoother route.

For work and income

Idua Road is an existing route in Eket, so keeping it in good order protects trips that people and businesses already make.
