About the project

This project is the dualisation of the 11.617-kilometre road from Ikot Imo through Ikot Ekpene Udo to Okon in Eket. Part of the road lies in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area and part in Eket Local Government Area. The same road appears in state records as the Ikot Imoh to Strabag Junction to Eket Road.

The project is funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Governor Pastor Umo Eno inspected the work in May 2026 as part of a tour of road projects in Nsit Ubium and Eket.

The dual carriageway is meant to give traffic between Nsit Ubium and Eket a wider, safer route. It is expected to cut travel time and make it easier to move farm produce and goods to markets in Eket and beyond.

The Governor has said that opening up rural communities matters because access to markets, schools and farms drives growth and helps lower the price of goods in the city. The road is part of the ARISE Agenda road programme.
