For families and communities
Its plain purpose is to connect Afaha Atai and Iko Ikwa so that residents can reach each other, schools and clinics more easily.
I'm glad to share that work on Afaha Atai-Iko Ikwa Road with spur in Eket LGA is under way. A 3.55km road with a spur.

A 3.55km road with a spur.

The Afaha Atai to Iko Ikwa Road is a 3.55-kilometre road with one spur in Eket Local Government Area. It starts at Afaha Atai, a farming community off Oron Road, and runs to Iko Ikwa.
The road is funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government, which set aside N300 million for it in the 2026 budget. The contractor is Hensek Integrated Services Limited. Work started in early February 2026 and is ongoing.
A good road is expected to make it easier and cheaper for farmers and traders in the area to move produce to Eket town and nearby markets, and for children to reach school.
The road is part of the wider road programme in Eket under the ARISE Agenda. In June 2026, Governor Pastor Umo Eno said 38 kilometres of roads were under construction across Eket LGA, with a further 12 kilometres approved.
